anything change on ripco's end in regards to spam filtering?

I'm seeing some spam coming thru this morning to my account today, which
is unusual. I rarely saw any since the gray listing was turned on.

It seems to be working normally for me. Maybe you're getting a better quality
of spam than I am.

I dunno, is this to the @ripco.com email address or the biz one?

I looked at the logs, mostly for the @ripco.com stuff and don't see anything
wrong.

Generally the DCC drops about 1200 messages an hour and for this morning, I
don't see anything outside of that average.

I have noticed though on my account at least, there has been some leaks
especially with the 419 letters in the past two weeks. Not the old style
ones in all uppercase but newer ones.

Anyway, that DCC works off a database of everything it's seen to determine
if something is spam or not, maybe it's time to purge it and start fresh or
something. There has been like 50 version upgrades since the version I put
in, seems to be mostly with unimportant stuff but will look into it.

I got about five of them today to the ***@ripco, I could post or email
the headers if you'd like.

Not that five pieces of spam fucks me up or anything, but I thought
you'd want to know something changed on my side

All the spam has stopped.

No, nothing here. Upgrading the DCC is on "the list" but haven't touched it.

On a non-related note, we do have other problems.

There seems to be some pissing match going on between Level3 who is
currently our upstream provider and another Teir1 provider called Cogent.

Appears the truce broke down and they aren't peering with each other
anymore. This means anyone logged into ripco on dialup can't reach any site
hosted by them (on their network) or if on shell or using the mail servers,
is going to bounce back as "route not available" or something.

Similar in nature, and this one I haven't totally figured out yet, there
also appears to be a data center in California blocking specifically us.

An example is www.freebsdmall.com.

For whatever reason they firewalled us from attaching to port 80, the http
port on all their machines. Everything else works (https, mail and the
rest), just the web sites.

So far I was only able to get a clueless CSR who insists it is related to
the Cogent problem, but I don't think so. The IQ over 80 people should be in
within the hour.

So if you are using ripco to get out and are having problems today reaching
certain sites, drop me a line or something so I can analize it.

At this point it's real confusing on what is working and what isn't.

That 'splains it...
